Engagement Poems

(A bit of a Geordie engagement poem)

I've asked you to marry me
And be the only one;
To cherish and love always
And to bear to me a son.

Now I know that can appear
Sexist if nowt else;
But I want the family tree
To live and have a pulse.

It all rests on me you see
The one and only son;
To carry on the family name
It is a bit of a tradition.

Not to put a finer point on it
But it would have to be;
Agreed between the two of us
To bypass problems later on you see.

I know children are on your list
For the future just not yet;
I'm sorry if the truth be known
I really love you pet!

You're engaged...
For all of your lives,
May you find in each other
The friend of your heart...
The joy of your world...
The love of your life!

With warmest wishes
for the best in life
as you both look forward
to a shared future
of love, friendship,
and the wonderful closeness
that is marriage.
Congratulations on your engagement!

You were so romantic down on bended knee
But it was funny you really must admit;
I couldn't help laughing I know
But I am so ready to accept.

Memorable night will be the word forever and a day
Whilst I was so busy laughing;
You were waiting to hear what I'd say
Regarding the proposal of affiancing.

So the diamond engagement ring
Is ready for my finger;
There is no time to tarry then
Or reason to withold and linger.

You have pledged your love for me
And mine for you is true;
I'm so excited I want to shout
From the rooftop! Don't you?

Our love will hold us together
Whatever path we tread;
Our love indoors will hold us close
Within the marital bed.

Wow, it's really great to hear
That you .... finally said
To you ....... what was clearly
In each other's head
Let's face it, for years
You've been rampant in bed
It's time that you sinners
Finally got wed.
